The Commish is too busy to tell there's a new blog...

Zibby getting 8x8.5M. Not too bad I guess.
Just never was a fan of his.

Should be the end of the endless ECHL to NYR rumors...

So as sad as it was for Ilya, was Mik injury a bit of a blessing in disguise for Leafs?

Time will tell. It’s up to the boys to step up and make soup expendable. I for sure want to see bunting On that second line. The giraffe has seemed to earn a spot on the team (not that soup didn’t have a good preseason).

And they get to avoid putting Engvall and/or Brooks on waivers. I don’t think Mik was going to be on the second line for very long anyway.

Is there a NMC attached? CapFriendly hasn't listed it. Very interesting if there isn't... not saying it'll be a factor in an Eichel trade, but gives the Rags a lot of flexibility down the road when Zibby declines.

Great signing.

There's just so many weird scenarios at play right now. Do they waive 1 or 2 players? Do they waive none? Does Liljegren actually make this roster now based on circumstance?

The mind boggles.

I don’t think anyone gets waived if they can slip Mikey on to IR?

The only certainty is that we’re going to be a powerhouse. I predict a president’s trophy this year.

Didn't get to watch the game last night, any one got a summary?

Good play?
Injuries?

You know, the meaty stuff! Thanks.

Good question! I mean, that's what it appears to be the case to me -- just not sure if there's some waiver rules for opening day rosters and LTIR utilization that the NHL may wag their fingers at.

Nothing out there yet.

Guessing 6 years full NMC and last 2 a 10 or 15 no trade list...

There's just way too many questions marks on this team to confidently predict that kind of regular season success, I think. Just a few:

- Do Ritchie and Bunting live up to their promise on LW or are they miscast as Top 6 guys?
- Will Campbell be able to continue from last year or will he fade?
- Can Mrazek challenge for 1a or will he wilt under pressure in TO?
- How is AM34's wrist?
- Is JT fully recovered?
- How many games can Kase play without getting injured?
- Can Holl be consistent this year as Muzzin's partner or will he wilt 20 or so games in like he did last year?

The Leafs are pretty much a lock to make the playoffs I think but are they better than TBL and FLA? I dunno. If Ullmark is for real and Hall returns to form, the Bruins could also be tough.

At the end of the day, I think the Leafs proved last year they were a powerhouse until one of their Core 4 was removed from the equation. They also continued to have trouble transferring their game from the loose regular season play to the much tighter, more truculent "bearded manly man" post-season hockey.

All I care about is a legit, deep run this year in the playoffs. Don't care what happens in the regular season as long as they make it to the post-season healthy.

I agree. But without Freddy dragging us down like he did last year I think we have a great year. We’re more than overdue for a playoff run.
